Mock Tennessee Titans Off-season
Promote John Streicher to General Manager
John Streicher has served as the Titans “Coordinator of Football Development” over the past 3 seasons. Inside the Titans facility he’s known as Mike Vrabel’s right hand man, and a brilliant football mind.
Despite his youth, “Stretch” is widely respected throughout the football world.
“You watch, Stretch is going to be an NFL GM someday” — Everett Withers, head football coach of James Madison University
Streicher could help modernize Tennessee’s philosophies regarding analytics and style of play, all while curating a blue print to take the next step towards the ultimate goal, bringing a Lombardi to Nashville.
Fire Offensive Coordinator Todd Downing and Offensive Line Coach Keith Carter
The Todd Downing experiment has been nothing short of a disaster. Tennessee has managed just one fourth quarter touchdown this season, and have scored just 18.5 points per game (26th in the league).
The Titans offensive struggles under Downing can mainly be attributed to lack of creativity, inconsistency, and questionable personnel usage.
Downing certainly hasn’t helped his case, as he was arrested on DUI charges in late November. Since, Tennessee has struggled to the tune of an 0–3 record, averaging a measly 16 points per game.
The demise of Keith Carter has seemingly been brewing for awhile now. Titans Pro Bowl LT Taylor Lewan has admitted that he and Carter haven’t always had the best relationship. Meanwhile, reports of Ty Sambrailo’s abrupt retirement last season say it may have been due to a rocky relationship with coach Carter.
Beyond relationships, Carter’s unit have severely underwhelmed in recent years. Tennessee ranks in the bottom-5 in sacks allowed over the past 2 seasons, and have struggled mightily to open lanes for star running back Derrick Henry.
