How old are you? How’s the Future looking?
The earth is 4.6 billion years old. When we look at huge numbers like millions and billions, its hard for us to imagine how 1 billion actually looks like. If we scale 4.6 billion years to 46 years, the industrial revolution which actually happened in late 18th century happened a minute back. Within this 1 minute of industrial revolution we have destroyed almost half of earth’s forest, Global drinking water shortage is a big concern, climate change and so on.

If you look at things we do, they are of two types, well being an engineer I would say reversible and irreversible things. We have the power to reverse the impact of some things we did in life and on the same time we also have enough and more things which are irreversible, no matter how hard we try it never will be the same again.

We as humans, consider ourselves top of the chain, we have the largest cerebral cortex among all mammals . Stop. We should ask ourselves, does our past and present actions supports it in respect to the impact of unsustainable business/personal practices.

Recently in Manhattan, USA, a clock was put up, showing a stop watch which shows around 7 years to end and it means that we still have 7 years to extensively start adopting sustainability or else after 7 years we will not have the liberty of enjoying the power to reverse the climate change problem.

British conservationist Jane Goodall says” we must embrace more greener energy or the future looks dark for our children”.

Recent global pandemic has affected millions of people around the globe, for decision and policy makers, its high time to introspect our actions and decisions because if we were ask to blame anyone for such pandemics , its not Chinese, it’s the whole human race. Nikola Tesla is the most underrated and visionary scientist in the world and he once said “Humans are yet to see man-made disasters beyond their comprehension”. What if this global pandemic is just the beginning of the end.

SUTAINABILTY AS A VISION

As a aspiring marketing professional, I believe companies should think again and revamp their vision incorporating sustainability goals in their business model. When I look at the real meaning of a company, its something that goes on forever and to do so, companies should have a great vision for both customers as well as the ecosystem we live in consider for granted!
