How can I start to do my own electronics projects

Nowadays we hear a lot about robots, electric cars, solar panels etc. and it captures our attention at this field. However, how do you start to learn more about electronics at all? Which steps should you take to build your first circuit?

You shouldn’t underestimate this step. Knowing the basics of electronics is a huge milestone. From Ohm’s Law to differential equations of capacitors and coil, there is lots of things to learn. Read more about electrical materials and try to understand functions of these elements.

It is out of my perspective the second step to take. There is lots of complex elements, which are fundaments of circuits, such as amplifier, shift register, lcd displays etc. Try to read the datasheets und widen your knowledge about new devices.

After you learned fundamentals of electronics, it is time to take the next step, learning through experimenting. Learn to program these boards and start to build basic circuits, such as switching a LED with a button or try to build a H-Bridge to drive a motor. Try to experiment with measurement tools like digital multimeter.

You experimented with electrical elements and now you can understand the functionality of these elements in real situations better. Then it is time to design your own circuits and learn soldering. You can try to build useful circuits such as fuse, electrical motor driver or a 12V/5V DC-DC Inverter. Try to solder your circuit on perfboard, which comes with new challenges.

The PCB Design is a huge topic itself. I would try to start with really easy circuits here. You can implement two copper layer boards. Copper layers are responsible for building the network and wire the elements. Find a free software on internet and play with it until you get familiar with the concept.

Now you can design your first couple circuits and try to learn further information about electronics.

I would be happy to see your constructive comments and questions.
